National Service Scheme:

          The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian Government –sponsored public service programme controlled by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport of the Govt. of India . NSS scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Century year in 1969.

Motto of NSS

Not me but You! is the motto of NSS. Our college NSS unit has been working to fulfil this motto and the various objectives of NSS from the inception of this scheme in our college. We have been working to utilise the youth power for social change and always trying our best to inculcate the feeling of social work among our students. We have undertaken various regular social activitiesto  promote the social awareness among students through our NSS programme . We are trying to create social sensitization among our volunteers.

Objectives of NSS

  1. To utilise the youth power for social change
  2. To develop the sense of social responsibility among the students.
  3. To understand themselves in relation to their community
  4. To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in the problem solving process .
  5. To develop the leadership qualities among students.
  6. To help the society in any kind of natural disaster, such as flood, draughts , cyclone and pandemic

Responsibilities of NSS Committee

  • To make enrolment of NSS volunteers.
  • To work as per the guidelines received time to time from DSW and from SNDT University, State Govt. and Central Government.
  • Orientation of volunteers.
  • Organizing regular NSS activities
  • Organizing Special Camp at adopted village.
  • To make essential correspondence with University and Government.

Activities of NSS

There are two  major parts of NSS activities
  1. Regular Activities: These activities have been organised throughout the academic year. Volunteers have to complete 120 hours for the social work.
  2. Special Camp : Every academic year one special camp have to organised in the adopted village . Duration of this camp is seven days, and this camp is residential camp.

  In the year 2018-2019 NSS volunteers have undertaken various regular activities. Details are as following.

  • On 21st June 2018 National Yoga Day had observed all volunteers have participated in Yoga Day.
  • On 7th June 2018 Tree plantation has organized in college premises. All the NSS volunteers had participated in it . Near about 100 saplings have been planted in the college premises and nearby adjunct areas of college.
  • On 11th Aug 2018 cleanliness drive has organised in Ratanshinagar, College corner, Amrai, Station chowk ,Pratap Chowk and statues of freedom fighter in the nearby premises by volunteers.
  • On 12th Aug 2018 cleanliness drive has organisedon college groundand inside the college building. All the classes, Home science Lab , Library, office , Auditorium and verandas were cleaned by volunteers.
  • On 14th Aug 2018 , as the part of preparation for Independence Day calibration . Volunteers  have  cleaned and decorated the Flag Area by amazing rangolis .
  • Volunteers have participated in the Teacher’s Day celebration programme held on 5th Sep 2018.
  • New Voter registration was organised in college with the collaboration of Sangli District Collector office .
  • On 24th 2018 volunteers have celebrated the NSS Day with great enthusiasm and spirit .
  • On 17/1/2019 Marshal Art karate programme was arranged to give the self defence training to volunteers by Mr. Akash Kamble .
  • On 14th Dec 2018, 100 volunteers have visited to Prabhat tara Orphanage .
  • Street play on the theme of cleanliness awareness, ban of plastic was performed by volunteers at adopted village Bamnoli.
  • On 10th Dec 2018 volunteers have visited to Sangli Vridh Seva Ashram, Kupwad.
  • 12th Jan 2019, has observed as ‘Yuva Din’ in the memories of Swami Vivekanad’s birth anniversary. Lecture on the topic of ‘ Youth is the Power of Nation’ delivered by principal Dr. P. R. Pawar .
  • NSS volunteers has organised Save the Girl Child Rally on 5th Jan 2019 .
  • On 12th Jan 2019 since 11:30 am to 2:00 pm Demo of EVM: VVPAT was organised as the part of Voter Awareness programme, cordially organized by collector office , Election Department Sangli and college .
  • On 8th Jan 2019 PO and Principal have attended the meeting at collector office regarding the Rashtriy Matdar Divas , going to be held at 25th Jan 2019.
  • On 16 Feb 2019 volunteers have visited the Savli Beghar Nivara Kendra and undertaken the cleanliness drive there. Made the conversation and distribute eatables to the inmates.
  • Lecture of Dr. Angha Joshi on the topic of Women’s health and Hygiene have organised as the celebration of World Women’s Day.
  • Street play entitled ‘ voter awareness’ written and directed by programme officer Dr. Sunita S. Borde -Khadase have performed  at the various places to propagate the voter awareness among citizens on 25/1/2019 the National Voters Day .
  • Essay competition has held on the topic of Voter awareness on 25/1/2019
  • Elocution competition has held on the topic of Voter awareness on 25/1/2019
  • Volunteers have participated in the workshop organised by Jeevan Vidya Mission , Pune . on  30/ 1/2019 
  • On 23/3/2019 Lecture of Mr. Ashok Sanghvi on Sendriy sheti kalachi garj have organised for the farmers of adopted village Bamnoli and nearby farmers .
  • On 8th Jan 2019 PO and Principal have attended the meeting at collector office regarding the Rashtriy Matdar Divas , going to be held at 25th Jan 2019.
  • On 16 Feb 2019 volunteers have visited the Savli Beghar Nivara Kendra and undertaken the cleanliness drive there. Made the conversation and distribute eatables to the inmates.

  • Volunteers had participated into the flood relief special drive of District Collector office Sangli. Worked for the collection, packing and distribution the food and eatables to flood affected people
  • Lecture on the topic of First Aid, delivered by Dr. Priyanka Pande on the 8/9/2019 on the occasion of first aid week. 
  • New Voter registration was organised in college with the collaboration of Sangli District Collector office .
  • Volunteers had the oath against Tobacco.
  • Volunteers had the oath on Swach Bharat
  • Volunteers had the oath on Lokshahi Pandhrvada
  • 12th Jan 2020, has observed as ‘Yuva Din’ in the memories of Swami Vivekanand’s birth anniversary. Lecture on the topic of ‘ Youth is the Power of Nation’ delivered by Prof R. G. Gaikwad .
  • Visit to Savli Beghar Nivara Kendra, Sangli.
  • NSS volunteers has organised Save the Girl Child Rally on 5th Jan 2020 .
