          The Department of Economics was established in the year 1970.In our Institution we have Graduate and postgraduate degree programs having permanent affiliated to S.N.D.T.Women’s  University,Mumbai Since 1970.In the graduate program Economics has been taught as a disciplinary component, ancillary component and applied component in the Graduate Programme, in the postgraduate program syllabus of choice-based credit System is being taught.  The Department of Economics organized group discussion on ‘Union Budget’ every year in the month of February. Essay competition, Bridge Course, wallpaper writing, guest lecturers etc. are arranged during the academic year.

Mission:

               To create the awareness among the Students the theoretical aspects of Economics and to discuss current issues and provide relevant, up to date and career- oriented education in Economics.

AIMS:

           To develop Rational Approach for Economic behavior and Values in Younger generation by teaching-learning extension activities and application of Economics in the decision making process.

Objective:

  1. To educate students in theoretical understanding of Economics.
  2. Up gradation of knowledge in recent trends and developments in Economics.
  3. To acquaint students above recent trends in different branches of Economics.
  4. To create environmental and social awareness by exposing students through various activities
  5. To guide the P.G. students for research related activities.
  6. To encourage the students regarding application of Economic concepts, theories to solve various economic problems.

    Thus, the Department of Economics is very active and encourages students to be vibrant about the recent trends and new developments in the national and international economics
